In the first episode, your hosts Carla and Delia discuss how we even got to modern day dating. They kick off this party with the book: “Curious History of Dating: From Jane Austen to Tinder”.

Carla and Delia discuss Lonely Hearts Ads, marriage marts, dowry’s and fan flirting (which Carla and Delia vow to try at a happy hour in the not so distant future.) They also discuss the pros and cons of chaperones, the first Valentine’s Day and the first ladies night which did not achieve its intent to civilize men.

The ladies chat about the advantages of being courtesans, the freedom bicycles brought women and Delia’s penchant for procrastination which is why the entire book wasn’t covered. Carla opens the door for FutureMan and the importance of (Present)RightNowMan. Carla gives a preview for the next book, and a shout out to Fright School Podcast hosts, Joe Fejeran and Joshua Napier.
